Hi Guys,
I have a workaround for Mac using After Effects. There is a stunning plugin called Optical Flares by Video CoPilot which I actually think is better than KLF was.

Basically I’ll export a black jpeg with a tiny white dot where I want the flare to go. Import that into AE, add the flare, Export it with a Save to PSD. Then bring it back into PS, set the blend mode to screen or add and it’s done.

I am currently using this approach on a feature.
I live in a different state to where the production and everything else is happening. The post supervisor and assistant editor is with the production and looking after logging, capturing and cloning the hard drives. They then send me the clone and like you suggested I send them a project file of updated work.
We have found it better to send just XML files of the timeline as the project files can get a bit bulky. The XML files once zipped or stuffed get down to around 100k so it’s easy to email.
The assistant then re-links the media does any rendering that is needed and gets the team to watch it.
If I create any temp VFX shots, I compress the crap out of them and upload them to a secure FTP site for them to download.
It’s working very well and we haven’t had any problems with it yet.

I hope you have figured out the problem by now but just in case you haven’t, or if any other person in need stumbles upon this thread…
I have recently gone through the same problem of trying to get logged and captured footage from Avid Media Composer across to Final Cut Pro. There’s little information that I could find scattered around the net and what could be found only described one little part.
Eventually myself and a colleague worked out the process of transferring the clips as well as keeping all the logged information and time-codes. After putting so much effort in, I thought I’d write a step by step guide on how we achieved it.
